From EduTech for Teachers:

tech it up tuedayIt’s another Tuesday—one in which the sun is shining here in Central PA! And even better yet: It’s time for me to share another tech-isode in my “Tech It Up Tuesday” series in which I will share an edtech tool, app, site or other resource that can be utilized in the educational setting.
If you’re a fan of the Wheel of Fortune game show, then you’re gonna just love, love this week’s freebie! Check out theRandom Name Picker, a quick and easy classroom management tool—one that is part of the super cool suite of teacher resources located on the ClassTools.net site. Yep, it’s time to trade in those good ol’ fashioned popsicle sticks for this digital gem!

Here’s how this Random Name Picker works: Simply input the names of students into the generator, spin the virtual wheel and watch as a name is randomly selected from the list.
But wait… There’s more! Additional features include…
» Once a name is chosen, it can be removed it from the wheel so that it is not selected again. This feature will help to make sure you don’t call on the same student twice.
» By assigning a password, class lists can be saved and reused at a later date.
» The tool can be embedded and shared via a blog, wiki or website.
» The generator is compatible with an iPad.
» The fun sound effects are reminiscent of a carnival! (minus the kettle korn and funnel cakes)
Classroom Connection:
No more coaxing your students to answer a question or be the first to present a project or speech—the Random Name picker does the heavy lifting for you! It’s a convenient, fair and fun tool to add to your edtech arsenal.
And that’s all, folks!
